Leader Calls Enemies' Plots Ineffective

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Sunday praised Iranians for their high turnout in the International Qods Day rallies, underlining that the move proved enemy plots against the Islamic republic will remain futile.

"… (the Iranian) people once again proved to the world that western policy-makers and officials will go nowhere by their anti-Iran moves and the ploys and tricks of enemies will have no impact on the great Iranian nation's spirit," Ayatollah Khamenei said, delivering a sermon on the Muslims' Eid ul-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, here in Tehran today.

The Leader expressed gratitude to the people of Iran for their high turnout in the Qods Day rallies despite world powers' efforts to undermine the day.

Millions of Iranians took to the streets in different cities of the country on Friday to mark the annual Qods Day march in solidarity with Palestinians.

The International Qods Day was started by the late Founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, in 1979 as a way of expressing solidarity with the Palestinians and underscoring importance of Qods to Muslims.

International Qods Day is an annual event opposing Israel's occupation of Baitul-Muqaddas. Anti-Zionist rallies and demonstrations are held on the last Friday of Ramadan in Muslim and Arab countries around the world, and especially in Iran.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the International Qods Day was the day of Muslim Ummah's outcry against lethal cancer of Zionism, adding, "Muslims in different parts of the world took part in ceremonies that day. The global message of such a brilliant presence is that the giant movement of the Iranian nation has spread to the world of Islam and like the Iranian nation, the Islamic Ummah (community) will not bow to tyranny even if the tyrant is supported by the world's most powerful states."

Elsewhere, the Leader underlined that good morals, kindness and fraternity are prime needs of the society, harshly criticizing newspapers, media and various media apparatus for fanning atmosphere of accusations, suspicion and doubts.

"The regretful trend of exchange of rumors and accusations will darken and tarnish hearts and social atmosphere," Ayatollah Khamenei noted.
