Iranians Flock to Streets to Condemn Insult to Imam Hossein (AS)

Millions of Iranian people took part in massive rallies in Tehran and other cities across the country on Wednesday to voice their strong support for the country's Islamic establishment and Supreme Leader and condemn insult by a group of Sunday demonstrators to Imam Hossein (AS). 
 
  
In Tehran demonstrators from different walks of life are carrying red and green flags and chanting pro-government slogans.

Similar rallies are underway in different cities across the country.

Leader Calls Enemies' Plots Ineffective

 

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Sunday praised Iranians for their high turnout in the International Qods Day rallies, underlining that the move proved enemy plots against the Islamic republic will remain futile. 
  


"… (the Iranian) people once again proved to the world that western policy-makers and officials will go nowhere by their anti-Iran moves and the ploys and tricks of enemies will have no impact on the great Iranian nation's spirit," Ayatollah Khamenei said, delivering a sermon on the Muslims' Eid ul-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, here in Tehran today.

The Leader expressed gratitude to the people of Iran for their high turnout in the Qods Day rallies despite world powers' efforts to undermine the day.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Friday underlined that the whole world has the 'duty' to take the responsibility to confront Israel to ensure global peace. 
 
  
In a pre-sermon speech to Friday prayers worshippers on the International Qods Day, President Ahmadinejad maintained that countering Israel was a 'humanitarian principle'.

Millions of Iranians across the country took to the streets on Friday to mark the annual Qods Day march in solidarity with Palestinians, press tv reported.

Police Official: Ahmadinejad's Swearing-in Held in Tranquility

 

Iran's Deputy Police Chief Ahmad Reza Radan said on Wednesday that despite enemy provocations, the swearing-in ceremony of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the parliament was held in full tranquility and security. 
    


"In spite of the vast propaganda by satellite channels and foreign media for a gathering in front of the parliament building, no illegal gathering was held there," Radan told .

He also stressed that the police is responsible for maintaining security and tranquility and will make its utmost efforts to this end.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced here on Monday that he would continue a proactive policy in his second term in office.
 
 
 


"Proactive presence in the international arena is a national duty. It is not possible to build Iran without a strong presence in the international arena," Ahmadinejad said in a ceremony to mark the official start of his second term in office.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution formally endorsed Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for a second term as Iran's president in a special ceremony held today.

Rioters Confess to MKO's Leading Role in Iran's Post-Election Unrests

 

Some of the rioters arrested during Iran's post-election unrests confessed to their links with the anti-Iran terrorist group Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO), and said that they had received trainings in MKO's Camp Ashraf in Iraq.
 
 
 


"According to the confessions made by those MKO members arrested in recent riots, these people had received trainings in Camp Ashraf to conduct sabotage and terror operations and organized activities (inside Iran)," Deputy Prosecutor-General of Tehran's public and revolutionary courts Abdulreza Mohebbati said Saturday, addressing the first trial session of the detainees of the recent unrests.

Mohebbati referred to the confessions of one of the MKO members, and said that the detainee became a member of the MKO in 2000 and joined the MKO's military arm in 2004.

The number of swine flu cases in Iran rose to 85, the health ministry announced on Sunday, warning that the number of patients infected with the A(H1N1) virus will increase during the cold season. 
  


"All the infected people in Iran have been or are cured through home-rest and usual cares and without being hospitalized or receiving special medication," Managing Director of the Health Ministry's Public Relations Department Abbas Zare'nejad .

Zare'nejad reiterated that those who have just recently been infected are presently under treatment, and assured that swine flu has taken no toll in Iran.
